After years of dreaming of owning my own shop, I finally decided it was the right time in my life to make it happen! So with plans in hand and a concept in my mind, I went to my good friend Robin and asked for her help with this new and exciting venture. She jumped on the bandwagon…..and it has been a blast since the doors opened! Robin and I have been friends for 22 years. We met in the school playground as we were sending our oldest sons off to kindergarten, and have been friends ever since. Selecting the shop name was the first challenge, and despite public speculation on who exactly this Myrtle is……the name was selected with the Myrtle topiary plant in mind! She is not someone’s Aunt Myrtle as some think! We both love gardening, antiquing and decorating and knew we wanted to stock the shop with fun, unique and affordable items that we ourselves had been searching for to give as the perfect birthday, wedding, teacher and baby gift! I am originally from New Orleans and am so excited to bring the fleur de lis craze from the south to Greencastle. We feel so fortunate to have found such wonderful vendors and artists that allow us to offer to our customers products with style, quality, and uniqueness all with great prices!
Sweet Myrtle opened in October 2008 after months of planning, shopping, fun and lots of hard work preparing the shop for business. We are thrilled with the warm welcome that we have received from the community! It is a joy to open the shop each day and meet new customers, see returning customers –now good friends. It has been truly a rewarding experience!
